Edit Mode

modeedit is where you modify a task’s text content. Think of it like a word processor: clicking places the caret and every visible task acts like a text field. You can still create items, navigate between tasks, and adjust hierarchy without leaving modeedit. When you exit, you return to modeselection, which behaves like a file explorer for selecting and manipulating items.

You can enter Edit Mode by double-clicking a task or using the keyboard.

Double click to enter edit mode.

When starting with an empty file or when no item is selected, pressing creates a new root item and enters Edit Mode.

If you’re in Edit Mode, you can return to Selection Mode by clicking outside the tasks, clicking the validation button in the floating menu, or using the keyboard.

While editing a task, you can quickly create new items without exiting Edit Mode:

Create a new item.

Create a child item of the current task:

CtrlEnter

It is also possible to move an element within the hierarchy. Note that this is always done relative to the item above it, as in a classic tree view. If you select the first element of a column, you cannot move it. But if you select the second element and indent it, it will become a child of the parent item.

Indent(move) current selection as child of the previous item.
