Receipt Printer Configuration
Receipt Printer Configuration
Connect directly to thermal receipt printers via USB/RJ45 for instant printing.
Basic Setup
Printer Selection
- Install the printer via USB or RJ45 using the official drivers
- Select the installed printer from the list of connected devices
Printer Model
- Select your exact printer model from the dropdown
- If your model is missing, choose a model from the same brand
- For unbranded printers, try the Generic models
- This ensures proper ESC/POS or STAR command compatibility
- See the Compatible Thermal Receipt Printers page for supported models
Print Type
You can choose between two printing methods:
Direct Print Mode
Uses ESC/POS or STAR commands to print text directly to the printer. Faster but less flexible.
When to use Direct Print Mode:
- When you want the fastest printing speed
- When your language is supported by the printer’s character encoding
- When you don’t need precise control over font sizes and layout
Font Sizes (all options: Small, Medium, Large)
- Breadcrumb: Small (1), Medium (2), or Large (3)
- Title: Small (1), Medium (2), or Large (3)
- Checklist: Small (1), Medium (2), or Large (3)
Image Print Mode
Generates a PNG image and sends it to the printer. Slower but gives you complete control over the layout.
When to use Image Print Mode:
- When you want more customization for font sizes
- When you use a language that is not supported by the printer’s character encoding (e.g., Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Hebrew, etc.)
- When you need precise control over spacing and margins
- When Direct mode produces incorrect or garbled characters
DPI (Dots Per Inch)
- Set print quality
Width
- Set paper width in millimeters to match your printer
Padding (in millimeters)
- Set margins (left, right, top, bottom); account for printer hardware margins
Font Sizes (in pixels)
- Adjust text sizes for breadcrumb, title, and checklist
Live Preview
- See a real-time preview of how your task will look when printed
- Updates automatically as you adjust settings
Tips & Troubleshooting
Printer Not Showing Up?
- Make sure the printer is connected and powered on
- Install the printer drivers for your operating system
- Restart the application after connecting the printer

Garbled or Incorrect Characters?
- Switch from Direct mode to Image mode
- Image mode supports all languages and special characters
Image Too Large/Small?
- Adjust the DPI setting (lower = larger, higher = smaller)
- Modify padding to add or remove whitespace
- Change font sizes to fit more or less text
Slow Print?
- Try Direct mode; it is much faster than Image mode
