Search Tasks

Overview

Colonnes includes a powerful search feature that allows you to quickly find any task across your entire task list. This feature is especially useful when working with large task hierarchies or when you need to locate a specific item quickly.

Opening the Search Dialog

To open the search dialog, use the keyboard shortcut:

Once the search dialog is open, you can start typing to search for tasks. The search will filter results in real-time as you type.

Click on a search result line to close the search dialog and select the clicked item.

Search Behavior

The search feature works by:

1. Searching all tasks: The search looks through all tasks in your current file, regardless of their position in the hierarchy
2. Hierarchical display: Results are shown with their full hierarchy path, making it easy to see where tasks are located
3. Real-time filtering: Results update instantly as you type
4. Ancestor navigation: Matching tasks automatically show their parent tasks, so you can navigate to the full context
